Families who are struggling with hunger this time of year are also facing other difficulties. Their heaters are holding at a lower temperature to keep costs down. Parents are trying to find the right words to explain to their kids why they didn’t get as many gifts as their friends. Children are worried about winter break because their family doesn’t have enough food. Through our seven direct service programs and our Partner Agencies we are working to reach everyone struggling with hunger this holiday season, but we need your support!
Ways to Help
Financial donations can go a long way to help! For every $25 donation, we can provide 100 meals to families in need. Hunger knows no season and we work year round to reach our neighbors in need. We cannot successfully do that without financial support. If you donate $100 or more, you can qualify for a 25% Colorado state EDEZ tax credit. For more information about EDEZ, contact Dee Stetz at 970-356-2199 x 324.
If you are making donations on behalf of someone for the holidays, we have cards available for order. You can find more information here.
Our nonprofit agency partners have requested 5,100 turkeys to provide for the families they serve across Weld County. There are several options for you to drop off a turkey:
- Our Main Office (1108 H Street, Greeley), Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
- Wing Shack locations in Garden City, West Greeley and Windsor. For every turkey they receive, they will donate an additional $5 to help fight hunger in Northern Colorado, and you will receive a coupon for 5 free wings.
- Saturday, November 17th is our annual Turkey Drive from 9am to 3pm. In Greeley/Evans we will be at both Safeways, Sam’s Club, Walmart on 47th Avenue, and Natural Grocers, and in Longmont at Walmart on Ken Pratt Boulevard.
Along with the turkeys we collected, we provide the fixings to our Partner Agencies so that they can make a complete holiday meal. The following list are the items we will be collecting:
- Stuffing Mix
- Canned Green Beans
- Gravy / Mushroom Soup
These donations may be dropped off at our warehouse (1108 H Street) Monday through Friday between 8:00am to 5:00pm, or at any Weld County King Soopers stores on Saturday, November 17 from 9am to 3pm during the 9 Cares Colorado Shares food drive.
