Nearly 40,000 Weld County residents, half of whom are children, depend on SNAP benefits to feed themselves and their families. With the current government shutdown, all benefits are on hold beginning in November, leaving many people in our community with nowhere to turn but to food banks and community pantries. We are already seeing historic numbers, and we do not have the means to meet this additional need adequately.
