Mission Statement: “To lead and engage our community in the fight against hunger”

Weld Food Bank is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization which alleviates hunger and poverty by providing food and services to people in need. We are a private non-profit organization and are not a part of county government.

We work to educate the public about the nature of hunger and poverty. We recognize the need for emergency and supplemental food programs and of other non-profit organizations that meet the critical needs of low-income families. When we provide our services we strive to do so with compassion and respect for the dignity of the people seeking food assistance. Last year we provided 15.6 million pounds of food to our neighbors in Weld County.

We accomplished this amazing feat through our 8 direct service programs and 73 nonprofit agency partners. Leona’s Kitchen operates throughout the year providing over 150,000 meals and snacks to children through Kids Cafe and Summer Feeding. Additionally, our commercial kitchen makes restaurant quality meals available for our agency partners to access. To further meet the needs of 1 in 3 hungry children in our community, we also run the Backpack Program to feed kids over the weekend and the School Food Pantry Program to set up on-site pantries directly in schools. Our Senior Feeding Program reaches our 60+ population with a monthly food package containing the Everyday Eats food box and a healthy assortment of produce, meat, dairy and bakery items. In order to ensure everyone in need is fed, our three remaining programs are for anyone in need. Through our Mobile Food Pantry and Farms to Families, we can make healthy, perishable foods available directly in communities. Finally, the Emergency Food Program provides a food package of both shelf stable and nonperishable foods to help our neighbors who need immediate food assistance.

Weld Food Bank is a part of Feeding America, the largest charitable hunger-relief organization in the country addressing the problem of domestic hunger by providing billions of meals to hungry people in America each year. This accomplishment is due to their nationwide network of 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal programs. Feeding America serves all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.
