With the Mobile Food Pantry we can provide healthy, fresh foods to residents in need by taking food directly to the people. This type of distribution is done through a converted refrigerated beverage truck that can deliver fresh produce, dairy, meat, bakery, and dry goods to sites all over the county. The food bank is always working with communities to pinpoint areas with the highest need.
2.5 million pounds
of fresh produce and other nutritional foods distributed to sites all over Weld County last year
Despite the fact that we serve 73 hunger-relief nonprofit agency partners, there remain areas of high need. Even in areas with these agency partners providing food assistance, the agency may not have the capacity to safely store perishable items. There are additional barriers to food access including agencies that have limited hours of operation, and hungry residents who are not able to find adequate transportation, particularly in rural areas. That is where the Mobile Food Pantry comes in. When the truck arrives at an easy-to-access site, volunteers from that community help set up the food on tables so residents in need are able to choose the items to feed their families.
